The Sacred Union of the Masculine and the Feminine

In the past, spiritual traditions have focused on transcending the suffering of humanity by rising above it and aspiring to merge with divine light. In contrast, the Adorata teachings propose that human evolution is leading us toward discovering the power of love and developing the ability to attend to and transform the suffering in and around us by bringing divine love directly into the depths of our physical world. When we talk about God, spirit, or heaven, we are accustomed to referring to an exalted experience that happens somewhere else—either up in a higher realm or out of the body or after death. In Adorata, it is revealed that the quest for external salvation, ascension, or transcendence is an incomplete picture of who, what and where God is.

The doctrine of salvation is based on a divinity that is outside of the human being and uniquely empowered to grant forgiveness or punishment for our transgression. In contrast, Adorata—which is founded on original purity instead of original sin—presents a new experience of Divinity that is within our physical being and part of the very fabric of our physical world. In Adorata, God the Father is our heavenly parent who wants to bring His love down into His creation, down into us. God, the Mother, is our earthly parent who wants to open us from the inside out and fill us with Her tender love. It is only by opening to the love of Divine Mother that we can prepare ourselves to receive Divine Father here and now, in this world and in this physical body. This Sacred Union is a mystery that can be invoked through the Adorata practices of devotion and begins to arise spontaneously as we progress through the Path of Enlovement.

Sacred Union refers to two different stages. In the first stage, we bring the inner male and inner female into alignment and collaboration with each other. It is important to note that when the inner male and inner female come into harmony, they do not weaken or merge into each other or produce androgyny. On the contrary, each increases the other’s potency: the male energy becomes more virile by the nurturing of the feminine, and the feminine in turn is opened into a more trusting receptivity that is exquisitely feminine by the structure, the support and the honoring offered to her by the generous and potent masculine. When this development has progressed sufficiently through the Descent and Enlovement Process so that the body and the psyche are cleared of the blocks of the crystallized patterns of the shadow male and shadow female, then the structure of the psyche and the body of a human being is energetically prepared and opened to receive the grace of the Father. This is the process of the divine descent of the spirit into the body to merge with the soul, which creates the newly divinized human, able to embody divine love at the deepest levels, and to transmute the physicality to master both spirit and matter as two polarities of the same continuum of the Divine.

Please note: In Adorata, Sacred Union is not a sexual practice (although it is indeed conducive to a new understanding of sexuality as a dance of loving creativity.) Rather, Sacred Union refers to the alignment of the inner masculine and the inner feminine through a series of devotional and alchemical practices that are taught to those who have already undergone the trainings of the Adorata School of Enlovement.
